Ankie, thanks for sharing your name and language information with me. Very interesting. Especially the bit about signing, I've wondered about how effective it is teaching them, obviously it works.
Daniel's having a meltdown thismorning. So am I. I've just tried to put him down earlier than his 2.5hours cos he was yawning and really grizzly, but he screamed so much I've just got him up and put Baby Mozart on. So he's lying watching that. DH is away, back thisafternoon, so I've been looking after him by myself for about 3 days. I don't know how you do it Judy when your DH goes away. Man, there's not enough hats on my head I can take off for you!
The reason for my meltdown is the last night Daniel woke 3 times! I think it was 12.30am, 3.30 and 5.30am. Now the first two wakings I fed him because he wouldn't go quiet unless I did, but at 5.30am he didn't want anything. Gee what a surprise he'd already consumed more than he would during the day feed by then I'm sure. So what else could it be I wondered. I was lying in bed after putting him back in his cot and he started drifting off when he started grizzlying again. Mmmm maybe it's the nappy. So up I get again and change it. Very full, not pooey though. I go back to bed, Daniel goes back to sleep and I lay there wondering. Maybe it's a wet nappy that's waking him all this time?
I don't know how much he weighs now, but at 5 months he was 7.92kg. The nappy takes them up to 11kg. But he's a big wee-er (such a word?) and drinking lots at night at the moment, so maybe just maybe this is the problem. I'm going out to buy the next size up in nappy today. I guess if it doesn't solve the problem at least I'll have the next size in nappy. I'll just use them for nights. I go onto another baby site and I think one of the mums said this is usually her sign when the bub needs to increase in nappy size, waking at night.
It's just so frustrating because he'd started sleeping 11 hours. So why now suddenly is he waking twice or three times? I've decided it's not teeth now as there's no problems during the day at the moment, so can't put it down to that. He could still be hungry, but to wake 3 hours after a huge feed is not normal. And it's not growth spurt as he's not over indulging during the day. Sure I think he should be drinking more during the day, but I can't change that.
Sorry this is sooo long. Just had to tell someone. I've already had tears of exhaustion thismorning for no reason apart from having to get out of bed because Daniel was getting bored with his toys on my bed while I tried to catch another few minutes lying down. They weren't tears at Daniel, just tears cos I wish my hubby or someone could have looked after Daniel while I got some more sleep.
Enough from me. Hope your days and nights go better than mine are.
Oh, one good bit of news for me, is I've found out where I might be able to get a Nuby cup. I've searched everywhere and then on the other forum one lady mentioned she saw one at Pak'n'Save which is the cheapest grocery chain here. I never would have thought they'd have it, but I'm going to look today when I get the bigger nappies.
(And buy some painkillers for this headache!)
