baby rice query causing constipation?

hello my five month old is is about five weeks into weaning, I tried giving her baby rice from spoon at bedtime with her bedtime milkas my mother swore by this for getting us to sleep so t hought i would try it!.This seemed to help her sleep through but she also became constipated! she is just on fruits and vegitables ( three meals a day ) and her normal formula. Was it the baby rice?

Will the same thing happen if i  give her baby rice for her supper? bit confused

Giving baby rice on its own quiet often leads to constipation that is why after a few days they recommend mixing it with some fruit or veges. I would stop putting it in her bottle and just mix it with her dinner instead.

Same thing happened with my little boy so i tried the baby porridge and mixed it with his usual milk worked a treat.
Don't know if that'll help sleeping thrugh the night though are you  still dream feeding  :)

Our ped put us on oatmeal first because of the fibre content.  DS never has had rice cereal yet and he just turned 10 months.  He has had barley as well because of thegood fibre content as well.

Rice constipated both of my lo's so we just use oatmeal!

Rice also constipated my lo, and barley gave him wicked tummy aches (maybe the gluten?) I stuck to oatmeal, which he does fabulous on and have now re-introduced the rice but always with a side of fruit or veggie... he does really well with pear or peas!  :P  HTH   ALex

u can use oatmeal or barley instead (also gave tummy aches after a few days) - or like was said above, mix it with some fruit.  prunes, pears, peaches - they all work great!
