Hi everyone! I can't keep up with the posts since my last visit, so I'm just going to jump in again.
We went on our first trip last weekend for my SIL's shower. I was hosting it, in her home, since we don't live there. Anyway, Ethan surprised me and did pretty well, considering. He took short naps in his carseat on the way there (about a 3 to 3.5 hour drive), maybe 1 hour in total. But he kind of played with his toys and looked out the window the rest of the time. No big complaints from the car seat! And although he didn't nap well at my SIL's house (typical 30 minutes), he wasn't terribly cranky. I suppose with all the different people and different toys! Plus his 2 year old cousin kept him going - he liked to follow her around (crawling of course).
We got him to bed too late both nights, but he fell asleep and slept all night long both nights! I was so paranoid that he would wake up a bunch because he was in a different place, sleeping in his pack n play, etc. We brought his humidifier and had it on high, so that it would block out any hotel noise (people going up the hallways, etc.). And the Sat. morning we were there - while I was doing the baby shower thing, dh stayed with Ethan at the hotel for his am nap, and he slept 1.5 hours! So he had a pretty good day the rest of that day (although he still only took a 30 min. afternoon nap at SIL's, but that's typical anyway).
Anyway, so it was a very busy weekend, and it's like you're moving your entire house with all their stuff, but it was fun, and Ethan did great!
Other than that, things are pretty much the same for us. Ethan's woken up once a night for the past few nights, I believe it's his top teeth bothering him. I've seen specks, but nothing coming through yet.
Oh, and I steamed some sliced carrots and lima beans yesterday for Ethan, and he ate them! Yeah! I also cooked up some spiral pasta for him the other day, but he only eats a few pieces and that's it. He doesn't seem all that jazzed about the pasta! I also brought cauliflower and broccoli to steam for him to try. I need to try green beans and peas as well, but forgot to get them. Any other finger food suggestions? He's getting very mad at me with the spoon sometimes! Oh, and we also give him anything from our plates that we can. And he LOVES chicken! And since I'm not making chicken for him everyday, I bought the pieces of grilled chicken in the deli section, you know, like the pre-packaged lunchmeats? He definitely likes it! I haven't try ham yet though. He loved the turkey from Thanksgiving.
Christine - Ethan is in a size 4, just this past time that I bought diapers. His size 3's were barely containing the entire night's sleep, so I switched him to 4's just for overnights. Then we ran out of 3's, and I just moved him to the 4's. They are too big right now, but not majorly. I remember when I moved from 2's to 3's, it was the same. I just really didn't want to buy more 3's and then not use them because they were too small. Ethan was 22.5 lbs at his 9 month check, I can't remember what you said Leah was...
Hazel - congrats on being an auntie, and good news about your SIL!
Tarri - Ethan doesn't like me holding his hands to walk at all! He crawls EVERYWHERE, and pulls up on EVERYTHING, and cruises around the furniture. He pulls up on me too, but doesn't like me holding his hands to walk. I suppose he wants to be on the move himself, although he's no where near walking by himself yet - way too unsteady!
Oh - and question about dropping to 3 bottles. I may do that around 10 months for Ethan. So, my question is, during the afternoon snack (instead of bottle), what do you give them in their sippy? Water, juice? Ethan takes water from his Nuby sippy cup (the kind with a soft spout like a bottle), but not a ton. Just sips during his meals. And what kind of snack do you give them? Just trying to think ahead a bit.
