What do you do? Do you offer his regular bottle more often (i.e. 3h instead of 4h), or do you offer water between feeds?

As he is of an age where he can start having solids I would just offer a bit of water between feeds. The advice for breastfed babies is to offer more frequent feeds because they get the thirst quenching foremilk, formula stays the same (obviously ::) ;)) so offering water is fine.
