cries during bath
« on: February 10, 2007, 05:18:04 am »
this is totally new for our little guy the last 4 baths. out LO is 3.5 months, and has always loved his bath time (doesn't like getting out), which has always been at the same time, same routine. I can't figure it out, nothing has changed. he gets in his bath, he looks at me and starts to cry. he normally was such a spasher that i would be soaked afterwards. I have checked his body if he has an sore some where, but i can't see anything. ahs this happened to anyone else? is this a phase? i feel so sad for him, he is a textbook/angel baby, so something is up, but what?????

any ideas or suggestions?

My son is almost 1 year and he just went through something very similar.  He has always loved the bath and then all of a sudden he hated it.  So I started getting in with him and after a little bit of that he is back to being okay in the bath.  I would try that and see if it helps.  It may be that he is growing and experiencing new things (mentally) and suddenly the bath is new again.

thanks ladies, he is already in the big bath (almost from the start, didn't like the little one). we have gotten in with him, and he likes that even less as there is less room for him to kick, any other suggestions???

have you tried changing the temperature of the water or the water level?  Maybe also try letting him play in the bathtub fully clothed with his bath toys?

is he overtired?...try bringing the time forward 10 mins and see if that works.... try putting a warm wet flannel over his tummy to make him feel 'safe'

Try putting a towel under him, so he feels safe. Or, try leaving his socks on, so that he does not feel cold, that really worked for me.
