Hammock to Crib Transition
« on: February 28, 2006, 00:21:24 am »
Hi All,

Just wondering if you have any advice on hammock to crib transitions. DS is approaching six months, and is almost physically too big for our Amby. We'd like to move him into a crib over the next month or so. Any tips from hammock users who've transitioned to cribs? I'm worried that he's going to be a little agrophobic!

TIA!

Mrs. B.

I got my daughter attached to a blankie.  I was transitioning her from my arms to her cot.  Now she loves her blankie and her bed.

Good idea mydennis. Just wondering about swaddling for a short period. I know you wouldn't normally start this late, but wondered if it may give a similar feeling  ??? Or if not what about using a gro bag (sleeping bag).

Here's an old link, haven't read it so don't know how useful it'll be:

Has anyone else had experience of this?

Thank you, Chelle. We've actually just stopped swaddling as he didn't seem to need it any more. And last night he only woke once! I did wonder about continuing swaddling through the transition for some sense of normalcy, and to recreate the sensation of being in the Amby. I don't think reintroducing it would be too problematic. A blankie is another good idea, but at the moment he gets too excited by his "love love" upon waking rather than using it to soothe himself back to sleep.

I'll check out the other link.

Thanks!
