Overtired?
« on: October 03, 2005, 17:07:03 pm »
I had heard when DS was younger that he should go down for a nap about 1 1/2 hrs after waking now that's he's older should that time change? I've been putting him down about 2 hrs after waking but I'm wondering if that's to soon for a 7 month old. Also, I try and stick to an easy schedule but if DS only sleeps 45 minutes should I wait for 2 hrs to pass after waking and put him down again or just keep him up till the next nap time, risk him getting overtired and keep his nap times on a schedule and consistant?
Thanks

I would follow the baby, not the clock.  Don't keep him up and risk becoming overtired just to stay on clock time.   If he is tired, let him sleep.

I think, at 7 months, if he is still doing the 2 naps a day, you should try and have him asleep by the 2 hour mark, which means starting your wind-down at the 1.5 mark or 1.75 mark.  Aim to have him sleeping by the two hour mark
