Anyone's LO very sensitive to caffeine and affects sleep?
« on: December 16, 2005, 19:00:51 pm »
Last night was a nightmare, I could not get Ella down to sleep for the life of me. In the 10 weeks of her life, I have never experienced this with her. Yesterday I had a grande eggnog latte at Starbucks and I think she was absolutely wired from it. After three hours of fussing, I gave her some gripe water as a last ditch effort and she went to sleep until 7:30am this morning (from 9:30pm lastnight). I wasn't even thinking having the latte as I didn't think it would have much caffeine in it, as I "thought" it was mostly milk and I come to learn a shot of espresso. The lady at Starbucks said it shouldn't have hardly any caffeine. Does caffeine wire your baby's too or was she fussy from something else?

It varies for me. I gave up caffeine entirely for a month a while ago and didn't see a big difference EXCEPT sometimes the afternoon sleeps, when she'd just gotten the milk that would have had the caffeine in it.

Now I do drink SOME caffeine, and there are days that she sleeps dreadfully, and some of those days I've not even had any. :? Go figure. In any case, I try not to drink any after about 9-9:30AM, and I'll drink lots of water and other stuff to try to dilute it if I do.

That said, Josie was terribly sensitive to caffeine as a baby and I was off it entirely most of her BFing life.

i have forbid myself to have any amount of caffeine since dd was 1 month old and i realized that was most of her problem..along with her reflux, maybe it even contributed to it..i can't have ANY or dd gets amazingly gassy - that's no chocolate  , no pop  , no tea  , etc...such a bland life these days!
