I have been doing a lot of reading about this lately too, because my son doesn't want to eat much either
It is very stressful isn't it??!! I never thought this would get to me so much! It is so worrisome when he doesn't eat, it drives me crazy. I keep this list on my fridge to remind me that the portions are much less than I think and it also gives me ideas of what to offer at each meal.
Anyway this is what I have found to be the most commonly reccommended portions for toddlers 1-2years old:
Milk/Dairy:
16-20oz per day
You can also substitute things like cheese or yogurt for this
1/2oz. of cheese= 4oz of milk
1/4cup yogurt= 2oz of milk
Fruits/Veggies
5 servings per day is the goal
1 serving is equal to 1-2 Tbsp. of pureed or cubed fruit or about 1/4 of a whole piece of fruit
Grains
3-4 servings per day
1 serving is equal to: 1/4 cup of dry cereal, 1/4 cup pasta, 2-3 crackers (like saltines) or 1/2 of a tortilla
Protein- Non dairy
2 servings per day
1 serving is equal to 1/2 egg, 2-3 tbsp beans, 1 Tbsp peanut butter, 1 oz of fish, beef, pork or chicken
I hope this helps
