Yes its always commented on how 'alert' she is.

I put Madison down at the 8:50 mark as she was showing signs of being tired. She looked around for a bit, babbled a bit (heard her over the monitor) and is now sleeping (its 8:57am).

I'm not going to get over confident with it. Just watch her and put her to sleep when she's actually showing sleepy signs.  ::) We'll see how this nap goes. Im curious to see what will happen in a wk's time if we keep this up. Only time will tell if its ok!  :)

well ok 4 mths old man is she getting old!  :'( miss my lil baby

anyway

so today went like this. she got up at 6:50am on her own. she ate and played, started yawning at 8:45, laid her down at 8:50 she fell asleep just before 9, she woke on her own, happy as can be at 10:05am. Pulled her out of bed. She was asking for food just before 11 at 10:45 so I fed her (not quite on 4 hr eating yet). went and got her brother from school at 11:45, she was yawning in the car on the way home, laid her down for nap at 12 noon.

We'll see how long she naps for.

that's great so far, isn't it :)
even if she doesn't nap longer than 1 hour it's still ok if she wakes up all happy. it means it was just enough for her.

keep up the good job ;D and us posted.

Ok so here is what the rest of the day went like..............  :o

She napped 1 hr in the morning.

For the second nap she went down at 12pm, slept 40 mins, I went in and sh'd her and she was on and off again until 1:20! But she finally went down and slept until 2:30

We went out and ran some errands, got home, she was yawning (obviously tired maybe overtired  :-[ ) and laid her back down at 4:10pm. She slept until 5pm and wanted up, she was very happy! She is now playing in her exersaucer and sooooo happy.

I dont get it. She's only had like 4 ish hours of sleep broken up during the day.

IS THAT OK OR AM I IN FOR A NIGHTMARE?  :-[ :o ???

Hi there,

Just to give you some comfort, my DD is 1.5 wk shy of 5 months and at 4 months she survived excellent on only 4 hrs of nap total time during the day on 4 HR EASY.  She is in fact still on the same routine but now requires less nap time for the afternoon nap.  I've discovered that she can last 2 hours between her catnap and bedtime too so it's okay!  Every baby is a little different.  But, if she is happy..then that is always a good thing!!

I'm hoping it all goes well for you tonight though!!  Keep us updated.

Well she was happy when she woke up from her naps.. there was no crying or fussing. She played great. Enjoyed her bath, had her last bottle, we did massage and she went right to sleep.

She was definitely TIRED when her nap times arrived and she even had a great cat nap.

Im curious to see how tonight goes and the next few days  :)

shimzy, let us know how your night was BUT judging from what you say I think she just got as much sleep as she needed to keep her happy, as she was.

I hope this night was good enough for you to let you have a nice sleep :)

WELL last night was an absolute dream. She did get up twice, once because she broke the swaddle, and the second time because she coughed herself silly (caught cold from big brother). Other than that, she slept and slept and slept and slept.......and woke up this morning at 7:15am YAY!!

So we'll give that routine a try again today and see what happens!

Thanks ladies  ;D

Today looked like this

7:15 – wake and eat
9:05am – put down for nap, sleeping by 9:10
10:30 – woke on her own
10:45 – eat

12:10 – put down for nap
2:10 – hopefully sleeps to this time (she did WOOHOO! U go babygirl)
2:30-2:45pm – eat

4:00 – 5:00 – cat nap

She seems to be handling it fine... even with her cold. Her blow out sneezes wakes her up but she goes back to sleep.

Hey Monika!
Well bed time played out just fine. She was in bed by 6:45pm. She slept until 9:30pm when all of a sudden...

She started crying really hard. So I went in and checked on her. She was burning up like a steam engine  :'( So I unswaddled her and picked her up as she was crying unconsolably (TOTALLY unlike her). We have NEVER had a night like this with her. I gave her some baby tylenol and laid her on the bed, changed her pyjamas to something lighter and I started to massage her feet (that always calms her down). She calmed down and was just looking around. She was doing her hungry *bleeting* (as i call it) so made her a bottle, she ate 3 oz. (this is all in the span of about 2 hrs). She was calmed down, her fever was subsiding so I rebundled her up, kissed her forehead and laid her back in her crib. She went to sleep at about 12am ish.. ( I think it was closer to 12:30am but Im not sure, I was so tired). She slept straight through to 5:30, woke up because of her cough/sneeze. I sh/patted her and she was back down until she woke at 7:15am.

I tried to feed her breakfast but she only took 2oz and then it came right back up.  :'( :'( :'( So she's not eating, she's only been up 30 mins and she's already yawning. I dont know what to do. Do I keep her up? Do I lay her down for a nap? Do I throw caution to the wind today and just let her sleep as much as she can? Eat her whenever she will eat? I dont know what to do. PLEASE HELP.

 :'( :'( :'(

Hi there,

In my opinion, if LOs are sick... I would probably do whatever her cues are just until she gets better b/c if she is sick they are usually tired more often and need more rest.

It's tough when they are sick and things are out of whack...but once they are over it you can be comfortable once again to go back on routine.

Do you think she may need to see a doctor?  If she has a virus of some sort it might be good to visit her ped.  I hope she feels better soon!

hi Shimzy, sorry I haven't replied earlier, busy weekend over here.

I agree with Wei, if your baby is sick, just do whatever it takes to keep her comfortable- let her sleep as long as she wants, eat as much as she wants. one thing you shouldn't forget is to give her lots to drink as you don't want her to be dehydrated.

how is she now? better? how are you doing?
