Problem with EASY for my 9 week old
« on: December 11, 2006, 22:33:58 pm »
Hello,

I posted my schedule a couple of weeks ago and still am having an issue with one part of my routine.  EASY is working great for my 9 week old daughter, however I am still confused about why I can't settle her between 9-11pm.

Here is my schedule:

E-7:30/8:00
A
S-9:00-10:30

E-10:30
A-
S-12:00-1:30

E-1:30
A
S-2:30-4:30

E- 4:30
A
S-5:30-6:15/6:30

E-6:30
A-Bath
S-7:30-9:00

E-9:00 (can't seem to get her to sleep after this feed, sometimes will catnap in the swing

E-11:00
S-11:30-5:00 (last night until 6:15!!)

E-5:00
S-sleeps until morning 7:00/8:00 (often have to wake her to start the day and she is very sleepy and it's hard to get her to eat)

I keep it really dark and treat the 9:00pm feed like a night feed and try no A time, but every time i put her down she screams and won't stop until we pick her up again.  Any other time of day, she will only cry for 5-10 min at most on and off before settling herself to sleep.  Do you think that since she is starting to sleep through the night that she wants to be awake for that time between 9-11 before her long stretch of sleep starts?  Has anyone else had a similar experience and will she eventually work that time back so I can put her down at 7:30 and just do a dreamfeed at 10/10:30?  As it stands, i've never been able to give her a dreamfeed since she always wakes up before that.

Any advice/comments would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Well, evenings are usually fussy time no matter what around here...so it could just be something she'll outgrow. Another possibility is that bathtime is too stimulating. I haven't been able to do baths at night for either of my kids as babies, it just winds them up too much. Another possibility is that she might want to be upright for a bit longer after that feed. I know when I lay my 8 wk old down too soon after a feed, it makes her uncomfortable.
