Is the dream feed working?
« on: February 03, 2014, 10:40:48 am »
Hi gals
I have a 7 week old daughter who I've done a dream feed since about a week old (usually at 10.30 but sometimes 11 if she didn't settle to sleep til later ( I feed around 6.30pm then to bed). Whatever time I dreamfeed her she always wakes around 2am for a feed. She then wakes anytime between 5 and 6 for another. I'm usually able to get her back to sleep til 7.39 at which time I wake her to start the day.
My question is, does this all sound quite normal, is the dream feed working?

Hi there,

Based on my experience this is totally normal.  My DS is breastfed and used to have an almost identical feed pattern, dreamfeed at 11, woke for feed at 2-3am then often for another feed at about half 5.  Only now at 4 and a half months has he suddenly decided not to wake for the 2-3am feed but occasionally he still wants the 5am feed!

Sounds totally normal - is she breastfed?  At this early stage 3 night feeds (including the DF) is totally fine and it looks as if she's going 3-4h in between them which is great.  Keep doing what you're doing!

She is breast fed, apart from the dream feed I give expressed milk in a bottle. Thanks ladies!

My 11 week old is behaving in exactly the same way, no matter what time we dream feed (have tried between 10:30 - 11:30), he still wakes up for a feed at 2-3 am and then sleeps until 7pm.
