STTN messing up our easy
« on: February 09, 2014, 21:31:09 pm »
I know this is a problem that most would love but...

For the past couple of nights DS has STTN from 7.45, DF at 10.30 then woke for a feed at about 6am. Now I know this is amazing for his age and I am really pleased but it totally messes up our easy. So normally DS is on a pretty perfect 3 hr Easy, 1 hour A time and sleeps for 2 hours until next feed.

When he wakes at 6am he goes straight back to sleep after his feed as it is obviously too short a night for him to start the day at 6. So then he wakes around 7.30 or 8.00am. He is then due a feed and a nap at the same time and ends up falling asleep on the bottle! So our day ends up being ESA all day long. Any ideas on how I can adjust this? I can post our easy if that makes it clearer?

Yay to you for your LO to sleep so well.  My DS2 was the same way, but I have just been enjoying it while I can before all the teething and developmental leaps start messing up our good system!  :).  If it was me, even if he feeds at 6:00, I would offer him a feed when he first wakes up anyway.  He might be extra hungry from going all night and surprise you and it might help keep your EASY more in tact.  But I always figured even if our EASY got completely messed up one day, there's always the next day to start fresh again.

Hey hun, can you top him up when he wakes for the day? We had this problem during the 3-2 (I know much older but the E and A times get messed up yk? I think when I had messy AES I would try to do a top up in the morning. At this age it is tough as A is so short and they sometimes snack when yo want them to top up....

On the STTN days can your LO do a slightly longer A?

Yep, I would feed him when he wakes up for the day too, even if it has only been a short time since the last NF.

Thanks ladies. I did think about offering a top up feed on waking but he does have a tendency to like to snack so it worried me a little. Usually if he takes a small feed (say 2oz) he then is hungry a couple of hrs later but then only takes a small feed again! I will give it a go though.

This morning he didn't wake until 7.10am though so that was great timing to start the day. We will see what tonight brings.
