Making a craft supply kit
« on: October 22, 2008, 20:40:12 pm »
I have a cardboard box with all of ds's craft supplies thrown in. Needless to say...it's a mess.

What I would like to do, is make a properly organized craft kit with all of the basics. I'm having trouble finding a proper container though that doesn't take up too much space. I don't want one of those wheelie carts with multiple drawers though. I may end up having it hidden in a cabinet.

Anyone have some good craft organizers, and what supplies do you recommend?

So far, we have an assortment of:
-paint brushes
-finger paints
-regular paint
-finger paint pads
-doodle pad
-wax crayons
-colouring books
-$1.50 wooden model kits from Michaels
-play doh

That's about it! Awful, isn't it?
I would like to get safety scissors, glue sticks, construction paper, what else?
No foamies or glitter...too many crafts from dayhome are foamies and glitter is just a mess right now at ds's age. And I don't want it in the grooves of our hardwood.  :-[

TIA!  :D

Hiya Keri, I am going to lurk here I think

I have 2 craft storage boxes. One largeish box with all the supplies in it, that is kept up high in a cupboard, and a smaller basket that sits in the kitchen that I keep smaller amounts of everything in so it is to hand. I have a tall tub sitting upright with the paintbrushes in it and everything else kind of just jammed in.

Not sure I can add much to what you need as my girl is all about the glitter and sprinkles (pinkos ;) )

How about some nice stickers for him to use? stickers are also popular  here

how about cutting strips of paper to make paperchains? or you can buy them ready trimmed and gummed.
We have these and make them at Christmas, K doesnt really "get it"  but she still enjoys helping to stick them and hang them.

Also instead of paper we often use paper plates for crafts, just for a different surface, shape/texture.

What about tin foil? ripped up to be glued?

thats it sorry, not much help

I will be lurking for ideas though

I have 3 boxes.
1) painting stuff - brushes / paint / finger paints / pots / sponges
2) drawing stuff - felt pens / paper / wax crayons / pencils / colouring books
3) cutting and sticking - glue / scissors / sparkly bits  / old magazine pictures / wrapping paper bits / foam shapes etc.

All 3 boxes sit on the shelf in the garage and I can take it into the kitchen when needed.

Playdough stuff is in a backpack that sits on top of the 3 boxes.
