how to get LO to increase oz. during the day?
« on: September 11, 2006, 00:27:38 am »
LO is supposidly taking 4-6 oz. per feeding (we are breastfeeding so its tough to say but when we pump and use a bottle he is taking 4-6oz. depending on the time) He always takes 4 but has taken 6 a few times.. (according to a milk calculator on kellymom.com he is getting 4-6oz)

he is waking 2 (sometimes 3 times!) a night -- but he was sleeping 9pm-4am for about 3 weeks a month ago... i'm not sure how to get through the night again since he did it consistency before and now all of a sudden (for about the last 3 weeks) hes back to up a few times a night -- i am thinking that if we increase oz. during the day he might have enough calories during the day to make it through the night...

any ideas?! (i've read how tracy says to increase supply, but even if theres is a bottle, he isn't taking that much!)

thanks so much..

dreamgirl :)

we increased day oz by reducing night oz by 1oz a night day on day - make sense?  so the first night we went down by 1oz and added it into the next day, and then the next day 1oz less at night and one more the next daytime.  this way we managed to reduce the night wakings.  I don't have any idea how old your LO is, but is it possible they are ready for solids?

Please let us know how old your baby is and how often you feed during the day.  I have asked a mod to pop this over to the breastfeeding forum as well.

Proud to have breastfed for a combined total of 35 months
