Too much sleep?
« on: December 15, 2014, 16:34:37 pm »
Just wondering if anyone could give me advice.

My baby is 16 weeks and just moved to a 4 hour easy- not interested in eating before.
However A time is short so i cant work out naps and think she may be sleeping too much!

General day:

E 7am
A
S 8.20-10 or 10.30

E 11am
A
S 11.45-1.45/2

E 3pm
A
S 3.20-5.15

E 6.45
A none put down
S 7.15/7.30

Df at 10

No feeds in night but wakes for dummy a few times!

Is it too much daytime sleep?

Help!

Hi,

That's an amazing routine, I so wish my DD had slept like that! So jealous  ;)

You say she wakes in the night, are they quick and easy to get her back off? What I mean is, is there any prolonged NW's? If not, It sounds like she's HSN hun, good thing to know now really so you can take that into account during any future transitions etc. Hth x

Thank you!!

Its not perfect i usually have to resettle her during naps but generally get long ones!!

NW are just stick the dummy in and she goes off to sleep!! Some nights we do it once then there are nights like last night when she does it every hour!! Just hoping she will be able to grab her dummy herself soon!!

No idea how to work my day still tho- today she has woken at 9.55am instead of 10.30am ahhh!!

That's not bad at all hun, you may find you need to add another 5-10mins on to the A time soon but I'd just keep an eye on the nap length and if it starts to shorten. You'd need it to be consistently though, not just once so see if she's ready for an increase. Same pattern over 3 days will signal she's ready.

It sucks when they throw things off don't they? Don't worry, these things happen. You'll never manage to get exactly the same routine every single day, I'd just go with the flow and try to keep as close to it as possible.

I'd try and wake at the 2hrs mark, in any case she'll probably be hungry and you want her to get all her calories in during the day. Growth spurts tend to result on more sleeping too, so it might be that as well. It's hard to know what to do though isn't it? Remember this post if she ever starts refusing her naps  ;) x

I wouldn't worry too much if she's pulling those great naps hun, stretching them too much can only cause trouble if they're not ready for it. If she starts short napping, then it might be time for an increase x
