thanks for posting that Hannah-about the sleep.  I really should stop blathering on about things I maybe know nothing about    :?

I guess I just figured that if he's not sleeping through then that could be the issue...okay Holly-just ignore me for now and enjoy your free time during the day (and sleep when he sleeps!)

What does IYKWIM mean?  I see it a lot.

Hope the surgery is a success!

I've only tried one sippy cup with Sol, no handles w/ valve.  Do you ladies keep the valve in?

We've hit a bad teething episode with night wakings over the last 3 days.  He only woke up once last night at about 9:30 and I gave him a dummy from the freezer.  Any other suggestions for numbing?

Thanks Hannah and Traci, for your posts on Brady's sleep.
I appreciate both inputs.
I was thinking maybe he was still up last night due to sleeping too much during the day...but becasue he's never slept like that , I let him go yesterday. But as we go on, and if it contiues, then maybe I should start waking him up after 1.5-2 hrs of a naptime, and see if he will then sleep thru the nite...who knows. Right now I'm just not sure if its a one time thing yet...lol...and yes Traci, I have been napping when he was, as I have never had the opportunity before...lol....
Enjoy your stroll, and I'll email you my ideas etc, or like you said when we get together again we can talk about them.

Holly

A few more short forms I though of too....

solnme, roz, right?  baby brain kicking in.

If You Know What I Mean (IYKWIM)

frozen washcloths are a cheap, safe numbing idea.  I've been using a teething gel as well.  I often partially freeze his water too so that it's nice and cold for him.

I've been using the Nuby but he just chews on it, sips a bit sometimes.  Tried a no handle cup by Heinz today with the valve.  Much the same, more chewing.  I found the Nuby too big for him to tip up to get the water, and if it's full it's kind of heavy.  Will try this (heinz)for a while and maybe move to a cup with handles.

Traci...no not at all...it could very well be that he is sleeping too much in the day. In fact that is the first thing I think of when Sophie has night wakings!! I think it was a good suggestion. Not blathering.. OK, gotta go, baby waking :)

Traci - when you mean you particially freeze Cole's water, do you mean his drinking water...sorry I am just a bit confused lol   :?
if so, does he take it cold like that?

I use the frozen wash cloths for Brady too, it seems to help :!:

yes, his drinking water.  seeing as he doesn't really drink much I think he likes it since the very cold water is in the nipple part of the cup while he chews

Quick question, if I wanted to wake Brady from his long nap, when would I do it, at what time, and how?

    :?  :?:

Confused

After reading what all of you have been feeding your lo, not sure if Brady is getting enough to eat or not.... This is his usual day as per food wise:

wakes and is BF (so not sure what he is getting)
then cereal (3tbsp) and Fruit (2tbsp)

Lunch is vegetable (2tbsp) and fruit (2tbsp)
Bottle 6oz

Supper is vegetalbe (2tbsp) and fruit (2tbsp) and cereal (3tbsp)
BF

Before bed, bottle about 6 oz

sometime in the middle of the night, never the same time, he wakes to feed, and is BF

Any suggestions?

Holly

Wow, I've never really thought about how much I'm feeding my kids, I'm just being guided by them - I feed them if they're hungry and stop when they're full.  If your babies are thriving, growing, weighing well and content then you're all offering the perfect amount of food for YOUR baby. OK, I'll get off that soapbox now.

Hannah, with the milk being more nutritious for now, it is the most well balanced meal a baby can have until 12mths - they get the calcium, iron and other minerals and vitamins without worrying where it comes from - this is for breastmilk and formula.  In NZ we're suggested to drop down to 3 milk feeds a day around 9-10mths and offer the milk after solids, so I guess it becomes a little less important as a fuller, well rounded diet is established.

Oh and daysleep - BW method is for 2 x 1.5-2hrs + 11-12hrs at night.  D is still napping 45 + 2.5-3hrs during the day (3-4hrs a day).  I think that sleep chart is probably looking at averages and also takes into account babies that don't sleep well, have reflux etc.  JMHO.

Hope your day's are all going well.  D did another sleep through last night - yay, hopefully we're on the improvement!   :P

Hi,

Just thought I would pop on quick before we go to the beach to burn off some steam and get out of the construction zone!

Thanks for that Nikki about the food insight - it helps sometimes to be reminded that we are all GOOD moms!  Well done Danielle on the good sleep again.

Holly - My 1st thought when reading your post was that Brady was getting too much sleep in the day.  I have limited Sophie to 3.45 hours a day.  Again just my opinion but any little bit of insight hellps right?

Traci - Sophie does not like cold drinks!  It is so weird especially considering it is always warm here!

Any advice on how anyone in a cold climate dresses their LO's for sleep as we will need to get some things for Sophie when we go to Canada.  I am worried about how she is oing to adjust to such a drastic climate change.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

TTFN - I love that, doesn't Pooh say that all the time?

Richelle, thanks for your post, wondering though as I posted after, how does one wake their lo up from a nap if he's having such a good one..I need help in waking him up....????? :?

As for sleep here in Canada, Brady wears fleece all in one sleepers. They're fuzzy and warm, very cozy.  HTH

hi guys!

okay-we've been scheduled for 10 am for the OR tomorrow.  I'm not supposed to feed him after 4am.  Only clear fluids till 7 am.  Jack doesn't wake at night anymore to feed.  Would you guys wake him at 3:45ish to feed him so that he isn't starving and miserable by the time he goes to the OR??

Richelle-as for dressing sophie-what I dress Jackson in is a onesie, and pair of PJ's and then his sleeping bag (made out of fleece)on top of that.  He's warm enough with all that on and not over-warm.  His room is probably about 17-18Celcius.

Holly- I can't believe how much progress you've made with Brady in such a short time!!!  That is fantastic!  I think that you are probably feeding enough...he'll only eat as much as he wants...it's not like you can over feed him IYKWM?!! :D   And I agree probably just a smidge too much daytime sleep....but now that you've posted what he did yesterday he'll change it all again!! :D   I would wake him after about 2 hours IMO.

holly-we posted at the same time-when I have to wake jack ( not very often!!) I just go into his room and start talking to him softly and rubbing his belly.  That will usually cause him to stir a little then I'll turn on his bedside light (it pretty dim) and he'll usually wake up slowly after that.
