So dyt I should do 10pm BT
I can only tell what I'd do - and yes I would. I'd do 10pm and make sure he has no chance of falling to sleep before hand.

I'm actually bracing myself for when DS gets to this age/stage, I've seen a few threads on sleep needs dropping at around this age and have been thinking how I will prepare for it and deal with it. In our case I do feel lucky that I can count on reading time in the morning and (FX) when he is older he will understand he can turn on a lamp and read but must stay quiet, but even so I still wouldn't want him to be waking too early.
Whilst I don't think 10pm will be your fixed BT, it's just the time you go to now to shift his body clock, I would probably prepare yourself for his sleep need being lower than it has been to this point. You may need to think about the evening routine and how he will entertain himself or spend time with you in the evenings too.

Yeah, I agree. I tend to count on 10.5 h nights now, and as I hate to be woken up early (I am NOT a morning person) I tend to do later bt to compensate for this. I was sort of used to it as DS never ever pulled long nights (11 h were always the average) and he kept the nap until later, instead. I hope we don't have more drops in sleep needs now we are approaching 5...

Its his third full week at school Liz and I've been doing the 8.45/9 pm BT since Thursday...

Right now I'd be happy with a 10.5h night that would mean an 8-6.30 day and him waiting for Mr sun in am...

I read about melatonin on another thread. Could that be a temp fix here?

He did 9.45-7.30 so less than 10h but better than 9h of last few days!

So how many days should I do 10pm BT for?

 ;D

I think I only did 2 nights at the latest BT. So perhaps just tonight? Would you feel confident on 2 nights?

Then bring BT a little earlier the next night, not too much, maybe 15 mins and see where WU ends up...if it's still decent WU then 15 mins earlier the following night.  The thing then is to find where his BT is going to end up without WU getting earlier again, not bringing it right back to 'normal' but still offering his full sleep needs (keeping in mind they may have changed and reduced).

FX for tonight :)

Yeah, if you feel better with that. When I did it with DS I went on the idea of once the body clock had been forced to be flexible (sleep late) it was done really.  But I can understand you not wanting to shift BT earlier too soon.  You only want to do this once hey :O
...well, once now and once again next month ;)

So he did 10-7.50 last night. I had to rush to get him to school on time tho! I think I'll do 9.30 BT tonight...I really hope this has worked. I would hate for it to have been for nothing. I really don't want to resign myself to 5.30 wus :-/

Sounds great!
I think Id do 9.45pm BT rather than 9.30 and then shift to 9.30 tomorrow, but obviously do what you feel is right.  You don't want him awake at 5am but you don't want him late for school either!

Thank you ladies :-* :-* I ended up doing 9.30 bt as he was really tired and he sttn till 8.10!!!! Another rushed morning but it's Friday so don't have to worry about it Tom.

He's going to grandmas house to visit my new neice  so bt will be 9.30 again tonight but I think I should start shifting it back...whilst he was doing his 5.30 wus when I started this thread he was doing 11/11.5 h nights but I'm assuming his sleep needs have dropped....but by how much....???
