Title: naptimes interfering with external activities
Post by: Lovejoy on September 12, 2006, 09:37:20 am
hi  I really want to do baby groups/playtimes with my daughter - but they are in the morning when it;s her naptime.  I really relish her naptime and so does she and when i've attempted keeping her awake for events she's groggy and unresponsive.  But I am aware that we are missing out on play socialising.  I have some friends with babies and we meet in the pms (but it's not the same as going to a new environment with new toys)
(PS no pm events seem to exist here!!)

Any ideas?

How old is your LO? Our playgroup is at 9.30 ie exactly at nap time. I figure once a week it's worth just living with the consequences and go. DD really enjoys the interaction with other kids. I just don't stay the whole 2 hours. Today she started getting really cranky so we left at 10.15, I know I'm lucky just living around the corner, but maybe your lo naps in her push chair?

I think it's worth it if not too often.

we also have activities which clash with nap times but I think the positive interaction is worth any interference with the naps.  the first few times were a little hairy but now she gets so involved in the activities that she delays her nap and has it the minute we leave - I tend to walk so she can have a nap in the pram on the way home.

I say, have a go, it will get easier and well worth it for her and you
