Is it okay to use coconut milk in cooking for a 6mo? Ds is not happy with cow's milk so I can't use that for sauces etc, so I was wondering if coconut milk was a reasonable substitute. If not, what can I use?

That's what I used for things I baked or for rice pudding and it was never a problem!

I use oat milk if that helps :)

I've been using coconut milk for my MSPI refluxer in her cereal, and she's doing just fine.

Loaded with healthy sat fats - go for it!

Thank you all. I made him lunch with coconut milk and it seems to have gone down pretty well so I will keep going. I'm so glad that I have found something!

I'd just be careful that they get calcium from other sources though.

I don't know about the UK, but in the US, the coconut milk I buy actually has more calcium than cow's milk (it's fortified) - so you may want to look for that.

Thanks, Michelle. I will keep an eye out. I'm still bf'ing, though, so the milk in his solids is more for flavour/texture than nutrients.

we're in the same boat here. When dd2 turns 1, and I"m not sure I'm brave enough to try cow's milk, I plan to do straight coconut milk, and then I'll be glad for the calcium. For now, it's my main source of calcium, since I'm not doing dairy
