Hello,
Back again with more sleep issues 😞
LO is taking over an hour to get to sleep recently. Whether it's nap or during the day. Most the time she is settled and doesn't cry but she's often messing around so much she drops her comforter then gets upset and I have to keep going in to give her it. I literally just throw it in. I also watch her on the monitor and she usually accidentally drops it when she's running up and down the cot. It's not to get a reaction from me.
I have previously worked out that if she's over tired she's a nightmare to get to sleep. So with advice from here and trying a few different things I realised she needs to be in bed for 12 otherwise I miss her slot. She has also been going to bed a little earlier which stopped her EW most days. All around though it has stopped her waking crying which we were having a big issue with.
So from previous issues we have worked out she needs a lot of sleep. If she doesn't sleep well she wakes crying and EW! So we got this sorted!
Now she's throwing us with this new one of not sleeping for ages. I find it most frustrating in the day when (like today) she's taken nearly 1.5 hours to go to sleep. So now she will probably sleep 2 hours and that means 3.5 hours of her being in bed and us missing out on the day.
My husband thinks she isn't tired and maybe we should start pushing her bedtimes back but from experience I'm not convinced this is right for her.
She slept out last night at her grandparents and didn't get the best sleep. Today's nap has been one of the worst for getting her off to sleep so I'm thinking she's too tired?
Here's her usual rough routine on the good days.
Wake: 6.15
Get up 6.45 - try leave her as long as possible
Nap: 12-2 (roughly. Usually took 15 mins to get to sleep)
BT:6.30
Yesterday/ last night
Wake:6.15
Nap: 12.40 - 3.00 (was in bed at 12, longer sleep than usual)
BT: 7pm (grandparents didn't rush to get her to bed)
Asleep: 8pm
Today
Wake:5am
Nap: down at 11.30 - alseep 12.45.
Looking at this myself I feel like you are going to say she napped too long in the day. But to me, I feel she went to bed too late. Hence the EW. Now it's taken so long for her to sleep at nap time because she's been up too long today?
But then I'm probably wrong hence why I'm asking you guys! 🙈
Also we have had to change her from sleeping bag to duvet recently because she just kept unzipping the duvet. I'm wondering if this is the main distraction but it doesn't seem to bother her. She just doesn't sleep under it.
It's like she can't settle when in bed. She will try lie down but is fidgeting every 2 seconds and can't relax?
Sorry for the long message. Just think you need the full story.
Thanks again
