Going crazy! Should I REALLY put butter or rape seed oil in purree??

Hello! I am the victim of over-internationalising! I am Swedish, my husband is English, I grew up in Australia and I live in Germany. I am getting 'helpful' advice from all corners of the world that do everything to do with babies differently. Please, anyone, do I really put 1 tablespoon of fat in my lo purrees??Thankyou, tack så mycket, ta mate, dankeschön

I've never heard of that. So I've never done it. And my two boys are fine.

I've heard of it if dc needs the calories.  Done it when making foods for the physically/mentally challenged folks I used to work with.  Both were special circumstances.  If lo eats well and is gaining weight, I'd say he's fine.  Someone correct me if I'm wrong, we use jarred stuff.

I read that adding butter to a carrot purree helps them absorb the beta-carotene but not for anything else.

annary, I'm going to confuse you more, sorry!
Advice is contradictory in the UK and Germany. Over there they don't do it, over here they do. I don't put oil in DS' food, but I do put butter, but only for flavour purposes. If you ask a doc, a midwife or other German mothers, they're going to tell you to put oil in the food.
Just do what you think it's right for your DS.

jeg er engelsk og er giftet med en nordmann. min mamma og hans mamma og, mener at jeg skal tillsett smør i mi LO's mat. jeg synes det er ikke bra fordi det er fat og ofte er det tilsett salt i smør. jeg og hørte at du kan tilsett olje fordi det hjelpe at maten skal fordoylse litt lettere. jeg bare tilsett litt av vannet fra koking eller litt morsmelk.
