How to fit solids in with BF?
« on: February 24, 2010, 12:32:07 pm »
Hello girls,
I need some advice!
Leo is EBF and we've just started solids. I find if I give solids first he's usually too hungry to want to bother with spoons and 'food' and cries until I BF him and then doesn't eat any puree as he's full. Or if I do manange to catch him before he's too hungry, he eats the puree and doesn't want any milk ::)

Obviously, the BF is the most important factor at this stage, but how can I plan it so he has both?
What do you do?
I don't remember having this problem with Nicholas :P
TIA
Lis :-*

I always did BF first then  solids about 1hr/1.5 hours later.

We did BF on wake up in the am, after 2 naps and then bedtime.

Was trying to write it out with times there but can't really remember,  funny how at the time you know your routine inside out and once that stage is over you forget!

I think about 10 months when we'd 3 well established meals and had other dairy products introduced I dropped one of the afternoon feeds.

HTH!

When I first introduced Solid I tried to BF him just enough to get him pass the initial hunger edge than I would give him a tsp of solid than top of with BM. This helped him to be familiar to the cereal i had him on. He also loved it and would wanted more. But once he is use to the cereal i'm starting to do 1 to 1.5 hr apart from BF with the solid feed.

Good luck!
