12 week old only taking 3oz max

Evie is 12 weeks old and I cannot get her to take more than 3oz a time every 3 hrs...if i go 4 hours she still only takes 3oz

what should I do?

Hi Ladybird,

My DD did the same thing at 12wks. Just keep her on a 3hr routine. You can eventually go to 3.5 then 4 hrs at 4months.

I realised that my DD had a small appetite. I would change the nipple flow and she would gag. She was not ready. So, what I did was burp her every 2oz and that helped her eat more. She eventually reached 5oz's.

Try keeping a log. Sometimes our LO's just need to poo...Whatever you do...Do not force feed.

thanks, its good to know its not just my little one! she is already on stage 2 dr brown nipples, next one is the tricut so I think she just has a small appetite as you say. she is healthy enough. she was 3 weeks early so I always try to remember that as well.

At 9 weeks this is pretty normal then, you also need to take into consideration her weight/height percentile before deciding if she has a small appetite. At 9 weeks as PP says stay on 3hr EASY.

I am not sure what gerber stage 2 are.

My daughter was the same way. She ate what she wanted and would take NO MORE lol

She is now on the fast flow nipple and takes 5-6oz at a feed but we are on the 4 hour easy and way below the "recommended" amount to eat at her age. But she is chubby and very little and short, but thriving very well.

Some eat more, some eat less. Those babies always give us something to stress about dont they
