3 year old DD...not eating dinner...
« on: January 07, 2010, 20:27:34 pm »
My 3 year old is refusing to eat ANY dinner...for the past week, we have told her that if she doesn't eat her dinner there are NO snacks for the rest of the evening...we usually eat dinner as soon as she wakes up after her nap, so there are no snacks between lunch and dinner...and every night before bed time she asks for a snack because she is hungry. We remind her of what we said at dinner when she left the table, and hope that she remembers the next day when we go to eat dinner...she doesn't, and the cycle repeats itself...day after day....is this a phase? We used to leave her dinner on the table and tell her if she was hungry she could go eat her dinner (cold or not...), we have stopped this because she would say to us right before bed that she was hungry (to stall going to bed...), so now if she leaves the table, the dinner is gone (hopefully this will get her to sit still, one day, and eat...) Any suggestions??

Thanks

My only advice might be to move dinner later, like maybe even 90 minutes later to ensure that she is really, really hungry.  Also, when it's dinner time, is she involved in something that she doesn't wish to stop doing?  Like, if she is watching tv and you call her for dinner, could it be that she just wants to get back to doing what she was doing?

She might just not be hungry yet. Can you tell us the times she eats?  I agree she might just need to eat dinner later.
