How do you know when it is Reflux?
« on: February 28, 2006, 20:12:23 pm »
How do you know when your lo has reflux?  I've read a lot of posts where the lo was taking meds for it.  MY ds who is 4months spits up a lot usually right after a feed, and a few times in between feeds.  He seems to be gaining ok, but is it normal to spit up this much??

spit up is ok - when it's accompanied by constant crying throughout the day and night, not sleeping when lying down (crying and screaming), refusal to nurse or sputtering/choking when nursing, my lo coughed a lot, gas accompanied our refluxer...those are the main things i think.

I think a lot of los grow out of reflux around 3 or 4 months.  I wish I had recognized the signs earlier as I feel my lo had it and I didn't pursue it strong enough with the drs.

If you feel your lo may have it, please check iwth your dr.  Also, they have a thread in this site for reflux.  You may find what you need over there.
