Snack time ideas?
« on: September 27, 2005, 17:09:30 pm »
Hello.  my ds is now 12 months and we are starting to get rid of the afternoon and mid morning bottles.  Can you offer any suggestions for good, nutritious snacks and how much?  He still has a 6 oz. bottle at 6:30am, cereal and fruit at 8am, a snack at 10:30am, meat and veggies at noon, snack at 3:45, and a Gerber Graduate dinner, etc... at 5:30pm, and still a 6 oz. bottle at 7:00pm---bedtime.  Is this about right?

Hi,

It sounds like you are doing a great job.  The only thing I would suggest is have you thought about maybe replacing his bottles with a beaker of milk now that he is 1yr old? My DD dropped her bedtime bottle when she was 12mths old but that can vary from child to child.

With regards to snacks I used to/still do give my dd things like cheese or a yoghurt or raw vegtables cut up into little sticks with a homemade dip and fruit or ricecakes, she also used to love breadsticks at this age.

If I can think of anything else I will post back...

ds is also a fan of breadsticks and toast.also has extra fruit and yoghurt.ds dropped all his milk feeds by 12mths except his morning one.just wasn't interested anymore.he actually made dropping feeds easy for us.as we increased solids he just seemed to drink less milk and then refused the bottle altogether.BUT a beaker is a whole lot harder to introduce.he's still refusing much to my annoyance.wish i had started sooner! but to be honest we did start at 9mths!
