7 month old 4am wakeup!
« on: August 02, 2014, 12:31:33 pm »
Hi all,

I would be eternally grateful if anyone could help me with my LOs issue....

Since around 6 months old my LO wakes every day at 4am (she's now 7.5 months).
She's not hungry, but she will not go back to sleep unless I put her in the bed with us. Sometimes it takes 30 mins or so to get back to sleep but eventually she does and then sleeps until 6am.
I just don't understand why she consistently wakes so early?
This is our routine:

6am wake / milk
7.30 breakfast
8.30 nap (30 mins)
10.30 milk
12 lunch
12.30 nap (30 mins)
2.30 milk
4 nap (30 mins)
5pm dinner
7pm sleep

Thanks in advance!!

I think she's probably in a UT/OT loop.  She's UT for the first nap so she short naps and then is OT from the day.  I think maybe push that first A time a little bit to around 3hrs and see if that first nap will extend and that might help get her on to 2 solid naps and may help with the NW.

During the NW is she happy and chatting or crying?

Thanks Lindsay. The problem is she never naps for more than 30/40 mins unless I lay with her and stick her dummy as soon as she starts to wake (she then might go for another hour!)

When she wakes at 4/5am she is happy and chatting.

I think if you push that first A the naps might start to lengthen.  The 30/40 min naps can be developmental as well and they finally started to extend around 7 months.  Keep treating the 4am wake ups like a NW.
