Have you looked at the baby led weaning thread, its on the solid foods board?  Its so so good, with loads of ideas!

You may have to concentrate on fingers foods until this phase passes.

A couple of ideas:

- cheese sticks
- fresh fruit pieces
- cheerios
- boiled veggies like carrot slices
- hard boiled egg pieces
- small pieces of toast with whatever takes his fancy on top
- small pieces of baby potatoes
- crackers with cheese or houmous

I know you said he refuses the spoon but I remember at that age my DS absolutely adored yoghurt. Could you tempt him with yoghurt with fruit pieces ?

Would he be more comfortable with baby plastic forks rather than a spoon ?

Could you offer him a spoon (or two, or three  :)) to play/practice with whilst you feed him with a third spoon ?
