First years has a 'disposable' straw cup that we love.  I've had ours for almost a year and just wash and reuse.  They are cheap so if you do loose one it's no big deal.  The straws get squished sometimes when he's done drinking he likes to chew on it, but easy to smoosh back into place.  They only leak if a curious toddler takes the straw out (which is kind of hard to do and easily can teach them not to).

Otherwise, I just put water in a water bottle, like a generic version of nalgene.  kids can easily drink out of there and not spending $ on bottled water.

Have you been using the sippys for a while?  I have had to buy replacment valves for ours as they were starting to leak.  No other cups that come to mind though.

the first years - we use these in the house, but can't really cram one into my bag. my child does take the straw out and, of course, does not know how to put it back. otherwise, they are great.

i have been using sippies for a while. i have not had to replace the valves yet but maybe that is the problem. if that is the case, i'm just going to quit using them. i don't plan on using them for the next kid anyway b/c of the plastic issue (not to sound neurotic - it is just one thing you can control, why not?). i think nalgene is reformatting their plastic formula.

i think you're right - a water bottle is the way to go. why haven't i done this already???  i will have to remember next time i'm at target.

i will look for the playtex coolster. thanks SO much!!!!!

We just use a water bottle.

He has been able to use straws etc at restaurants since your los age. Ans now sine he is almost 3, he can drink out of anything without causing a mess. Yay!

http://www.playtexstore.com/cgi-bin/item/PLA05781 - these do not leak, it's all we use and I too have tried numerous cups.  We've had these for 4 months now - been through the dishwasher many, many times and they still don't leak.  Love them.

We use both!  Good Luck.

Oooo...  We have just bought some tumblers the other day and had not opened them yet.  DD was so excited to see them out tonight.  She loved them!!!  They really do look like adult travel coffee mugs.

I found a thingy made by gerber, you put it on the top of the water bottle so they can drink out of it without spilling, they do leak sometimes, but you just remove it and put the top back on.  Sorry dont know the name of it ( i know not much help) They are blue  with a spout on top.

The first years sippys dont leak,(not the straw cups the others.) unless they bite on them alot.

I believe Nalgene is coming out/or just has come out with some BPA free bottles. I'm going to keep my eye open for them, as I love mine.

I always carry a water bottle (like Nalgene) for myself and I'll give the kids a sip if they're thirsty.

i bought a coolster today. i think it is going to take cade a while to figure it out.

has anyone tried the foogoo's (the new toddler cup by thermos)?

sorry I am not sure--but I think you can put anything--even warm liquid in the SIGG. there is a special brush you can buy for them---I do agree they are a bit expensive---I plan to just use mine/ours for water though.
