Could someone give me a plan on feeding
« on: January 17, 2006, 10:42:44 am »
I am totally useless with all this solid feeding, and I need to be pointed in the right direction.

I am planning to introduce a third meal into this day, breakfast.

Heres what I am doing at the moment, but she has always had solids before milk

6.45am Milk
(8.00am Solids (which I am planning on introducing)) with water or milk ?
10.45am Solids followed by milk (6oz)
2.30pm  Milk
5.00 - 5.15pm Solids with water
6.45pm Milk just before bed

Bearing in mind she can only stay awake for 1.50hr - 2hrs.

Will this be okay.  I want her to gradually get the mid-morning food closer to midday.  At the moment she goes down for her nap at 12.15-12.30.

She has always taken her solids followed by milk.  If I swap it so milk comes first and then solids about 1hr later, this means I will be feeding her all the while, and she is not used to it, and I don't know if she will take solids an 1hr after her milk.

What do you guys think?

When are her naps? Can you break down about how much milk she takes at each feeding?

Melissa

Her naps and feeds are like this, based on what she did yesterday

7.00am Feed  6oz, this is always a struggle to get this down.
8.45am Nap, she always go to sleep within 5mins for 1.30hr
11.00am  Solids 2tsbp followed immediatley with a 6oz bottle
12.25pm Nap
2.45pm Feed 5oz, she normally takes 6oz
4.15pm Nap
5pm   Solids 2tbsp followed by 1oz of milk to wash it down
6.00pm bedtime routine
6.30pm Bottle 5oz
6.45pm Bed
10.00pm DF, I want to cut this out now, because it is a struggle to get the bottle in her mouth,  4oz.

This morning she was awake at 6.40am I got her up at 7am.  By 8am she was fussing for the winddown routine, so I didn't feed her any breakfast.  I suppose I will have to give her half of milk, then solids, and the rest of milk.

She accepted solids when I first started her on them, but now she takes a long while as she is more interested in the cat thats asleep or the world going on around her.

Just wanted to add, that she has been refusing the spoon now, or trying to grab it out of my hand.  Is she trying to tell me she is ready for finger foods.  I don't to start her on finger foods, as Tracy said they need to sit unaided and in a high chair, she isn't ready yet.

It looks like 8 AM would be a good time to add the 3rd solids meal. You'll find that as she gets older and her awake time increases, her midday meal will be able to move closer to lunch time.

7 mo is a tough age for eating, there's so much distraction! I had to laugh at how the cat sleeping is more interesting to her than eating! I always used at least 3 spoons when I fed Tyler. He'd grab the one I put in his mouth, I'd let him have it, then I'd use another one to put another bite in his mouth, he'd grab that one, and we'd just keep trading spoons. It's up to you whether you'd like to try finger foods now. If you don't think she's ready, there's no reason to start until she is.

I tried two spoons at the 5pm feed, she grab it, I let her have it, then she was chewing on it so I couldn't anymore food in her mouth.  The joys of motherhood

Hi,
My daughter is nearly 6 months and i have started her on solids, but am unsure about how to do it : all the books, friends, articles say differents things. So far, she has had around 2 tablespoons of baby rice or pear puree before her 11h feed, also before the 19h one. She seems to like it. She is still on the 4 hour routine (7-11-15-19-23DF) and takes around 5 ounces of formula each time.
i would love to have advice on how much, when... to feed her! Notenoughshelfspace mentionned that she has a feeding plan... could i have it also please?
thanks in advance,
claire

I have a 6 month old baby boy who is not a very good eater!  We have been feeding rice cereal, but now that we have added fruits and veges, he is not nursing or eating his solids very well.  How much should he be eating?  I am still trying to find a good feeding schedule to maximize nursing.  I would appreciate any suggestions.
7:00- wakes, nurses about 10 min
8:30 1Tablespoon rice cereal + 1 Tablespoon fruit
9:00 naps 1-1 1/2 hours
11:00 nurses 5-10 minutes
1:00 naps 1 hour
3:00 nurses 10-15 minutes
4:45 1 Tablespoon rice + 1 Tablespoon veges
5:00 nap 45 minutes
7:00 nurses 10-15 minutes
bath, book, bedtime

notenoughshelfspace-

I would like you to email me your eating plan. I have a 6 month old who is taking to solids very well, she'll eat a jar of stage 2 food at one sitting. I usually do this one hour after she has her bottle.

Thanks

Notenoughshelfspace:  Please send to me as well.  I got your E-mail before but I dont think it hasd the feedign schedule attached to it.  The E-mail that you had sent me did not go into a lot of details.
