Title: Breakfast Ideas anyone....?
Post by: LŠuren on March 04, 2006, 11:28:43 am
Hi

I introduced breakfast to my DS, just under 2 weeks ago - heinz baby porridge.  I really think he now HATES it, I have tried mixing it with different fruits but he still turns up his nose after a couple of grudged mouthfuls  ::)

Can anyone give me alternative ideas to breakfast for him?

TIA

At that age I used to give the packet baby breakfasts e.g. Cow and Gate, Farleys, Baby organix, Boots, etc  There is loads of variety and I'm sure you could find something that your lo likes.  As an alternative you could give plain fruit puree or fromage frais e.g. Baby Danone which is made from follow on milk.  Once your lo reaches 6 months you can give foods containing gluten e.g. Weetabix, Ready Brek, etc and add fruit puree if necessary to give different flavours.

Hi!  I cooked up some brown rice (about 40 minutes or until tender) and then pureed it with some of the cooking water.  I froze it in ice cube trays and mix a couple of cubes each morning with a variety of different fruits (papaya, mango, apple, pear, plum, banana...)  My lo LOVES it and it feels so much better to me to be giving her something home-made rather than baby-rice or processed cereals.  Of course, you can also use the rice cubes to make 'risotto' by mixing it with different veg for other meals.

We have just started with weetbix as Catherine was getting bored with Heinz cereal as well. I also bought some oats which i am going to try her on soon. I mixed fruit with her weetbix as i think she wasn't that keen having it plain (not that i blame her as i hate the stuff).
