I'm trying to stick to the 2.5/3 hour feed rule but she often either wakes up before the times up (especially in the am) or i cant wake her enough to feed (more so in the early pm and evening)..therefore her feed tmes are different every day..is this ok while weīr both getting aquainted with life or am i doing something wrong??
Hollybush,
I think it's perfectly normal for a 2 week old to feed "erratically". and IMHO for such a young age I wouldn't bother with "sticking to" any hour feed rule. I mean sure, you shouldn't be feeding her every time she cries or every hour IYKWIM, but she's still adapting to the world and needs lots of sleep. as long as she's feeding well and gaining weight I wouldn't worry. I know that Tracy recommended waking LOs for feeds but every time I tried it with my dd she would cry A LOT and be so hard to settle down.
also the dream feed..?......I'm not cluster feeding because shes usually asleep an theres no way shes waking to feed twice in a couple of hours so by 11 its either time for a feed anyway or we go over an she feeds at 12/1pm but then maybe wakes at 5am for next feed.....how do i get her to eat a dream feed???
sometimes it can be very hard to DF a sleeping LO as she's sound asleep and won't even try to suck. but once again, for a 2 week old baby it's perfectly normal to wake a lot at night to feed. they still can't tell day from night and for them it makes no difference if its noon or midnight if they're hungry.
anyway, you may want to take a look at this post:
