Short naps but waking up happy
« on: March 02, 2006, 16:04:12 pm »
After conquering the 45 min nap monster, I thought my nap issues were over!  It only lasted a week, then my LO turned 9 months, and all hell broke loose!  After a growth spurt started her night feeds again, her day time naps have shortened to either 30 mins or 60 mins.  She wakes up without crying, plays with the toys in her crib, and eventually cries out when she wants out.   The kicker is that I can tell she is still somewhat tired because she will be rubbing her eyes and yawning less than 30 mins after her nap!  Here is her current schedule:

7:30 Wake & BF
8:30 Breakfast
9:30 1st nap (will make noise anywhere from 10 - 10:30)
12:00 Lunch followed by BF
1:00- 1:30 2nd nap (generally close to 1hr)
4:00 BF snack
4:30 cat nap (because she is just too tired to make it to bedtime)
6:30 Dinner
7:00 BF
8:00 bedtim

I'm guessing that I need to adjust her routine, I just don't know to what.  Any other ideas on how to get her out of the overrtired cycle she is now stuck in?

Have you tried moving bedtime up to 7:30? Also, if she only slept for an hour for her first nap, maybe you could try putting her down 2 hours after she woke from the nap. Have you tried to extend her naps? It never works for us, but does for some.  :)

HTH :)

thanks for the thoughts, I had a feeling that more A time was needed, she just seems sleepy at the usual time.  She does tend to go 3 hours before the afternoon nap, but maybe needs more?  I will try over the next few days changing the A time and see what happens.
