Eggy toast!  What a great idea.  I'm assuming it is french toastish?  Got to try it!

Micky - Yay to super scooter Jack!

Erin - you had White Spot.   I brought a bag of 15 Triple-O burgers (so addictive)  to my bro when we went to Portland.  He actually teared up when I handed them to him.

Janet - that sucks about your bro and evil SIL.  A whole year?  What do your parents say?  Man, wasted years like that are so not worth it.

And yeah, I can reattach the sink and water connections but it will have to wait until my FIL comes tomorrow because I don't have a plumbers wrench big enough to fit the pipes properly on the bottom of the sink. :?   It's just frustrating working on a plywood counter that is sticky from ripping the old topping off of it and it is also cut into sections so it's not very sturdy. :x   Oh well, one more week.

LOL, i thought that for a moment too.

micky-sorry for your sink situation.  that totally sucks.  i'd be a mess if that was me, because i don't even have a bathroom sink on the same level. i'd be running upstairs all the time.

saw holly and brady today.  another tough night for them yesterday but he seems do be doing okay regardless.  i'll post a couple cute pics tomorrow.

wanted to pass a quick hint along to those of you waiting/wanting your los to crawl.  take their pants/sleepers off.  my friend told me this and it really helped cole.  it worked for brady too.  have them roam around in just a onesie/diaper shirt.

k girls...cole went down fairly well at 6:50 after only 2 hours of day sleep (pm nap 45 min :? ) haven't heard a peep, it's 10:22.

off to bed doing anti-jinx dance with kicks...

Okay, yep, I thought the same re the photo of .......

I read Micky's message as JANET JACKSON GETS 2-3 HOURS SLEEP. I'm thinking, WTF, why does JJ have naps?!!!!

Still haven't done the photos, but will soon. Need to go and feed my friends cat.

Daniel and I went swimming today, well, he swam, I paddled. Had a good time, went under the water today (with my assistance of course) and for the first time didn't choke when he came up. YAY, he's getting the hang of it.

More to say, but gotta go. Back again soon/later I hope.

Oh yeah, that's my nick name from my bestest friend. What about you girls have you got nick names? We talked about our LO n-names, but what about ours?

Helloooo...

White Spot, Erin. They are pretty good marketers, evidently. They are in a lot of private companies now, as well as making their way into the schools as I understand it.

Micky... I was wondering where you had gone!!! Was just about to ask! Poop about the sink!! One more week?  :?     :x  :!: I would just be a nut case. I use my counters for everything... mail, recycling, etc. Doesn't everybody? Yeah to Jackson for the scoot! Way to get around!

Traci... doing the anti-jinx dance here for Cole over here. Send my {{{{HUGS}}}} to Holly and Brady too!

Janet... Arwyn normally gets 2.75 to 3 hours of day sleep. On a bad day, she'll only get 2.15 hours.

Okay... No Child Left Behind. I watched a documentary on this... wish I could remember the name of the program and the association that was speaking. They were totally against it, saying it was rubbish that all students MUST achieve the SAME goals by the SAME time. Whatever happened to individuality? Anyways, I also believe that it is not possible... God loves the bell curve (for you staticians) and that is the way the cookie crumbles, folks! You will always have the gifted students and you will always have those who need lots of support. My philosophy is to get them all at their level and to equip them with skills and knowledge that will make them conscientious, contributing members of society! Okay... stepping off the soapbox, now.

Anyway, the reason I remember this documentary is that one of the members of the executive on this association wrote a song about No Child Left Behind titled No Child Behind Left and I found it quite appropriate. The gist being that they had to sit all day, be lectured to and then subsequently tested.

We have something similar in B.C. called Success by Six. Um.... hello? Nobody starts school until 5? What is "success" at the age of 6? Very tough to deal with in addition to what teachers feel students should be learning in the classroom. Okay... really getting off the soapbox.

Hayle... you posted while I was writing my soapbox novel!

LOL about Janet Jackson! And it sounds like you and Daniel had a really good time swimming!

Nicknames... well... my name rhymes with a number of not so cool words so... the ones I hated... Spanky Ankie, Hanky Panky, Yankee Doodle, you get the picture? Didn't help that I attended a high school where there were two teachers, named Mr. Sankey and Mr. Hankey.

Now, most people call me Ank. Two people call me something else... one girl I've known since Kindergarten (age 5) and another I worked with at a special needs residential summer camp... Anchors and Doodle, respectively. Don't know why, it just stuck with them so, I respond.

if you haven't guessed my nickname is micky.  :D   My real name is Michelle.  It was funny when DH and I got married because ever since I finished school and started working I've been going by Michelle.  So I was introduced to him and his whole family as Michelle.  But my whole family and friends know me as Micky.  Anyways, at the wedding reception, when anyone referred to me as Micky, none of DH's  friends or family knew who they were talking about and vice versa with being called Michelle.

I laughed at the Janet Jackson comment. I used to work with a guy who called me Ms. Jackson. 8)

Thank you for letting me know about the hrs of sleep that is really helpful.

Roz - My parents say nothing about my brother. They avoid conflict at all costs. I emailed him twice and he never responded. It sort of is what it is.

On a happier note, Kay cut her first tooth a week ago. I better take my last pictures of her toothless grin!

Good night.

Hi everyone

Hayles   - love the new avatar!  Your little boy is looking so grown up!  Fraser also loves his swimming lessons and has no problem going under the water.

This is probably old news but we get 2 - 3 hours day time sleep here and 11 - 12 at night

Not trying to jinx anything but for the past 2 nights we have only had one wake up - around 3 - 4 for a feed.  Our days have been starting slightly before 6 though so something new to work on.

Ah our childcare dilemma continues.  The situation in Australia is that we have a massive childcare shortage - so when you all post and say I hope you can find somewhere you are happy with, it's more just about finding somewhere.  In this horrible situation it is kind of take what you can get.  So I've been on waiting lists (at 30 centres) for over a year - yes, prior to Fraser's arrival - because I returned to work in July.  With no prospects of getting a place work agreed that I could work from home for 2 days a week while Brett is at uni.  Well, we've been doing that but it is getting so hard now that Fraser is older and more "demanding"/requires more attention.  So last week one of the centres called me to tell me they have a place for me.  We went there yesterday and I just didn't get a good feel for the place.  I can't put my finger on why though.  Work is starting to put pressure on me though to get back to the office full time - I guess they realise that my productivity is reduced when I'm working from home (right Nikki    although I'm at the office today and here I am posting!!).  Anyway so then yesterday I phoned to harass some of the other places where I have my name down and lo and behold one of the places has 1 day available that I can have.  The difference is that it is a home based carer where all the other places I have thought about have been in actual centres.  So my question (long winded - sorry - typical!!) is what do you all think is preferable - a childcare centre (2 carer's/8 kids all in the same age group) or a home based carer (1 carer/4 kids, different age groups).  We are going to meet the home based carer next week (oh, and she lives 2 streets away from my house) so I guess I can't make any decisions until then when I can see what my gut says - but I wonder if my instinct about not liking the centre is more about my reluctance to put Fraser into care and not really about the centre itself.....  Anyway, if you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them.  You know, someone should start up a BW childcare centre.  At least then I'd know where I wanted to send my baby!!

My nickname is Bubbles.  It was given to me on my wedding day by DH's grandmother who gives all her grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and their wives nicknames (she stands up and annonuces it at the wedding - so cute!)  Brett is LoverBoy  :!:    and Fraser is Little Nipper.  Otherwise everyone just calls me Jo - my full name is Joanne.

OK chat soon!

Oh my so now I can't stop thinking of Bubbles and Spanky Anky!!

I was going to comment on Janet Jackson's naps too but Hayles  beat me to it..

And holy crap it's midnight and I just hear one of the four girls cry out - or was that the dishwasher?  Not sure so I must scoot.  It's late anyway and after the nicknames  i've forgotten everything.

Hi again,

Oh duh, Micky I only think of you as Micky and wondered a couple of times who Michelle is when someone's written that instead of Micky

This will be a nother quicky. Daniel would not eat dinner tonight. I thought I had it all sorted, but no. Wouldn't even take tinned food. So I took him out of his highchair and will try agian soon. I wonder if it's cos his 4pm bottle of 180mls is too much and he's too ful. He's certainly happy enough playing on the floor right now.

Anyway, here's the photos of our lounge where I sit a the computer and Daniel's room. If I'm not allowed on the computer (dh takes over) then I'm on a laptop on the couch beside the computer desk. DH keeps saying we'll have to buy me a computer and desk and we can sit beside each other as if we were working together.

Oh, so it won't let me. A message has come up saying "sorry you have reached your maximum upload quota limit of 5mb" What's that about???? The file was less than 500kb.

Jo... we have the same problem here in BC about daycares. In my area, there are only 4  that are for 0-3 years. The one thing about our daycares, including home based ones is that they are regulated. All caregivers who care for 2 or more unrelated children are required to have a license. People get on these wait lists, like you did... before the birth of their child. I am putting Arwyn on the wait list for next September at the local high school here. They have a few spots for "community moms" as the rest of the spots are for the teen moms who are students at the school. So... Bubbles... wishing you luck with the daycare situation. Go with your gut (and if Fraser cries as soon as you bring him inside and all else is okay, get outta there!) and trust your mommy intuition! Glad the nights are going well!

Ok, this posting of pics thing is just not working. Can anyone tell me who to contact about 'clearing' my alleged 5 MG limit that I've gone over. Who looks after the technical side of BW site?

I just re read some posts and realised how insensitive I was.... sorry Ank  You didn't like your nick names.... and there I was calling you one. I won't do it again.

I have another few, Hailstones, Hayley Shmaley, and my brother used to call me gromit (but that one never stuck except coming from him  ).

Janet, I meant to tell you Daniel sometimes sleeps 2 hours total of 2 naps, but other days (like today) he'll do 3.5 - 4h. And either way makes no difference to his mood/personality. And 11.5hours at night. There's a post in the beginning of the EASY forum page that gives averages for sleep.

I can only guess what the 'no child left behind' theory/policy is about. Doesn't seem to make much sense, surely all children are different. I don't know if we have anything like that at our primary schools, but our high schools have got an 'interesting' exam/grades thing going on. I don't really understand it, and I figure the way things change here, by the time Daniel gets to that age it will have changed again. So why try to understand it for now. Even some people involved in it don't really understand it too well. IMHO.

Daniel didn't want dinner at 6pm tonight either. Lots more tears. I think I'll put a post in the food section and see if anyone can help. I just HATE dinner time, I can't figure out what or when to feed him.

Sorry, I can't go back any further to re-read posts and I read them all much earlier today (short memory). I know when I read what you all had to say I would have thought comments I wanted to say. Sorry.

Hopefully I'll make it to chat tomorrow.
