Title: Cartoons for Babies
Post by: NatashaB on August 07, 2008, 04:33:20 am
What are you're thoughts on educational cartoons for little ones??  Our 7.5 month old seems to enjoy watching cartoons with music and shapes on the children's channel.  Would love to here some points of view on this.

Thanks
Natasha

The only thing DD liked at that age is The Night Garden. Its the only thing she watches now too!

Sorry, we don't have sky or digital or cable so we don't know about other kids programmes!

My personal opinion is that its okay if you sit and watch with them and interact, talk about it etc etc.  I just try to avoid using it as a babysitter (which is oh so tempting and does happen occassionally in this house!)

I'm sure our lo isn't understanding what's going on at her age. She is just interested at this point in the shapes, sounds and colors.  I couldn't agree with you more on keeping it as a time to spend together.  I usually have her sit and watch as I prep dinner.  I sing when I know the songs etc.

Just curious as to if it is "so" bad as some make it seem to be,
Thanks
Natasha

Ella always liked the noises of The Night Garden, I don't think its so bad - its not like its Jerry Springer or anything!

Have you tried baby einstein? their dvds are age specific from 3 months old and our DS loves them.  they are designed to be watched with an adult, there is very little talking and lots of music.  hope that helps.
