LOL, Lee Ann! Is there anything extra added into your applesauce in the UK? Some people also add cinnammon here.
Just wondering if you remember Peter on the Brady Bunch talk about pork chops and applesauces?

LOL LLLena! ;D "Pork chopshz and appleshauce...eh Alishhhh..." ;D 1st thing I thought of, but surely no one on here would even think this, I love you, I have a fellow Brady Bunch fan and memorizer of these silly lines on BW, even DH would know this reference! ;D Thanks for the laugh. Sorry to others who have no clue as to what the heck we are going on about! :-[

My dh taught my oldest lo that line when she was 2 or 3 yrs and she would say it all the time. Not too long ago someone we hadn't seen in a long time asked her to say it, we had forgotten until then.
I have heard that apples have something that is supposed to protect you from diseases carried in pork. Once I mentioned this to a friend who worked on a farm with pigs and said that the farm would encourage them to eat apples (kept buckets of apples for the workers with the pigs). I am sure this was from back when trichinosis was a problem, just thought it was interesting. My family didn't serve apples with pork growing up, and my dad raised pigs (before I was born) but across country from where I heard of this. Could be an old wives tale, just thought it was intresting.

Lena - the only extra thing I think they would add would prob be sugar ::) we only ever ate it out of a jar . But I did make my own apples for DD when she was weaning
Aisling and Lena - LOL I know of the Brady bnch but I havent seen an episode either , sorry ** ducking the cyber slaps ;)**
so when you give it to your LOs as a snack do they just eat it with a spoon? or do they dip stuff into it? or do you spread it? LOL sorry just wodering so I can try it with my DD

Depending on the apples you use, no need for sugar. My mil makes hers sugar free and it's as sweet as can be... mmmmmmm Sometime we sprinkle some cinnamon on top.
We slop it in a bowl and give her a spoon 8)

LOVED the Brady Bunch....and I'm young...I think.... :-[

DS only eats apples, not the sauce, stewed or in juice format.... ::)

Paige was like that too, A. Until she was about 4, she never wanted apple sauce or apple juice. Her first year of preschool (at age 3) she would ask for water instead of apple juice and turned her nose up every time they offered apple sauce as a snack. Now she consumes apples in all forms ;)

thanks girls,
I definitely never added any sugar to the homemade stuff I hav emade. Youre right it totally doesnt need it

Sorry to be a few days behind. :-[
I never put sugar in it and *might* put a dash of cinnammon, but usually just the apples. Ds is thrilled with fruit anyway, so anything makes him happy. LOL. I haven't really tried putting it on anything else either.
