Thought this would be the best place to post, but feel free to move...
So, AF finally showed up exactly 36 days ago :-\ Still waiting for a second appearance, but no sign... before I got pregnant, my cycle was a little bit irregular and longer (usually around 31 days). I've done a pregnancy test twice and they were both negative.
When you finally start getting back on a monthly cycle, is it common for it to take a few months? Or does it just immediately kick into gear after you get your first period? I don't really know what's going on.
Dd is still BF'ing, but eats 3 meals of solids a day as well... she's 9 months old.
I guess I should keep testing if she doesn't show up soon! Good grief - I don't know what I would do if I were pregnant (although we definately do want another baby at some point!!!) - dd is still waking several times a night and I'm just really struggling with the lack of sleep at the moment :'( It's not exactly the best foundation for a healthy pregnancy :-\
What do you think? Is it normal for me to get my period for the first time and then have it take a while for another one?

I think it's normal. Your body is still under a lot of confusion! I had 2 days of light spotting last month and then nothing.

im sure i read on another post they can be irregular for a while :)

Maggie,
I was really lucky and got AF back in full force when Callie was 12 weeks old :o She is now 21 weeks (I think) and AF has just made her second appearance. So a fair bit of time between visits but definitely the old hag :(
Before Callie my cycle was av 39 days, so a bit on the long side but def not so long as this time!

After my first I had a 42 day cycle, when normally I have a 29-31 day. i think it's fairly common to be more irregular at first.
But as a side note I'm so shocked as to how long some women can go without a period while breastfeeding. With both of my older 2 I exclusively breastfed and both went without bottles (of EBM) for the first few months of their life (Dominic didn't have a bottle of EBM until 5 months!) and I got AF at 8 weeks! :o
Anyway, I don't think you have anything to worry about! :)

Glad I'm not the only one Sophie!
