Title: 3.5 month old waking at 4am!!! Help!
Post by: loumax on July 05, 2009, 19:30:55 pm
Hi

My LO is 14 weeks and we have had quite a few issues with daytime naps though nights had been good.  Unfortunately he has recently started waking earlier and earlier - usually at 4am.  I usually try not to feed him until 5.30 at the earliest, he will then feed/nap on and off in our bed until 8ish.  I have tried to give him a dummy to settle but he rarely accepts this or if so doesn't settle for long. The rest of the day is then a bit out of kilter but usually goes like this:

sometimes 8am feed (depending on how early he wakes and how good the earlier feed was - at time he only feeds very briefly before sleeping again in our bed)
10am feed 6oz
11.45am nap - only 30-45 mins
1.30pm feed 6oz
2.30/3pm nap 30 mins
5pm 15-20 mins breastfeed
615pm bath
630pm feed 6oz
7pm bed
11pm dream feed 6oz

I am at a loss with a number of issues:

- what do I do when he wakes at 4?  Have tried to leave him but he just cries and gets very upset until we have to pick him up.
- does anyone have any advice on how to get him to sleep through?
- does anyone have any advice on how to extend his naps in the day?  I have read that this can help with night sleeping...

I was breastfeeding but am now giving him 3 bottles of hungry baby as I thought hunger could be the issue.

I'd really appreciate any advice anyone has on this

thanks! ???
