Griffin is going to be 5 months old December 5th. I have been trying the EASY routine since he was 3 months with varying levels of success. His routine looks like this:
7:30 wake up and breastfeed (or bottlefeed if I nursed him recently)
Play till 9:30
9:30-11:30 nap
11:30 nurse then play till 1:30
1:30-3:30 nap
3:30 nurse then play
if he gets tired, catnap around 5 or 6 then nurse after
Bedtime usually around 8:30 or whenever he seems tired
His naps are pretty good, not too hard to get him down most times. Sometimes his morning bottle has rice cereal.
My problem is for the past two weeks he has been waking darn near every hour to nurse. He feeds for about 5-15 minutes if I'm lucky and then falls asleep and I put him back in bed. I know he doesn't need these feedings but he screams bloody murder if I don't feed him and I moved in with my dad and I don't want Griffin to keep him up (rooms are very close). My pediatrician told me to stop feeding him between midnight and 5 am and I remember reading a post on this board that had a step by step guide for gently weaning a baby off night feeds. Now I can't find it. Can anyone help me?

Hi Jenny, my little boy Charlie is exactly 5 months old on Dec 5th and we're having problems at night in that he is waking every hour/90 minutes or so too. Oh yes its exhausting isn't it!! I'm not feeding him each time but even when I have fed him he still wakes an hour or so later. I read in the BW book that Tracy used a dummy to wean one baby off his night feeds but if you dont use a dummy that might not appeal. We've had all sorts of dummy issues anyway so thats not really an option for us.
I'm pretty much at a loose end too so sorry I can't help you much. We usually settle Charlie by shhh/patting him and that usually gets him back to sleep those times that I haven't fed him although he still wakes later ???. Maybe you could try that? The only thing is he may make some noise while you're doing it but may only take a couple of nights and might help him settle himself without food. The only other thing that comes to mind is maybe changing EASY to 3/3.5 hours so that you know he's definitely getting enough calories during the daytime? I still feed DS every 3 hours although I am starting to try and stretch it out to 3.5hours in 5/10 min increments. My concern is that he might be hungry but I thought that might be more to do with my supply decreasing and I've had some great support from the girls on here so am working on that.
Big hugs to you though - I know how tiring it is getting up all night! I dread the nights now... Let me know if you get it sorted and good luck!

Hi there, I think this is the thread:

If not I'm not sure...
Do you think he's having his GS though? Some LO's go through it earlier or later...it could be his 4 month spurt late or his 6 month early...?

That is exactly it!!! Thank you so much. I just can't keep getting up seven times a night to feed him for five minutes or God help me 40 minutes. I am also pumping more and giving him bottles so I can make sure he really is getting enough food.
