Title: How do I handle this?
Post by: kacie1219 on April 20, 2010, 14:32:55 pm
I'm pretty sure DD (adjusted age 10 wks) is habitually waking at 3:30 am.  It's always the same time and often times she doesn't take that much.  We started out with a 10 pm DF and she was waking at 3:30 so I thought she was just hungry, but we moved the DF to 11:00 to try to get her to go closer to the daytime hours and she was still waking at almost exactly 3:30 am.  I started W2S last night at 2:30 am, but she still woke at 3:30 and was screaming bloody murder or getting really ticked at the paci.  After only 10 minutes (because she was so mad and frustrated) I fed her and she took 2 oz. (3 oz. is her typical feed).  What do I do at the 3:30 am wake time?  Should I absolutely refuse to feed her?  Also, I plan to continue W2S but should I continue to do it at 2:30 am or should I vary the times and what is the latest I want to try this, 3:00?  How long should I keep trying W2S?  Any advice is appreciated!  Thanks!

I would try w2s at least 3-5 nights before bailing on it.  I don't really think there's a magic time to do w2s in order to get results--at least not in my experience.

To me, at this young age, I would feed, but I'm a big softy like that. ;)

Hoping others with more experience with this particular situation pop in to offer some additional insight. :)

I agree with Bethany - it's not at all unusual for a LO that age to need a night feed around that time.

And yes W2S takes at least 3 times to kick in. :)
