DD, previously a wonderful sleeper, has been waking all thro nap and bedtime (awake on off from 3 last night ???)
I hear a loud thud, then a distressed scream. I go in (my mum says to ignore, I don;t agree) cuddle her, talk calmly, then put her down. This takes 5-10 mins. Most of the time she accepts this. Then, maybe even 10 mins later the same thing. She has had a bad cold, if that's related. What the hell is going on and what am I meant to do? ??? :(
The only toher time she's been unsettled at sleep times is when she was ill, 3 months ago.
When I go in, once she calms down, she tried to talk to me about everything. I try and keep it low key and unstimulating... don;t know what to do. Sigh. She's just woken again. :(

Forgot to say, she screams cuddle mummy, 'cuddle mummy'... ???

Since she's sick, I'd offer her support/cuddles as you are, comfort measures for the cold (humidifier, saline drops, etc.). If you are worried about the thud perhaps lie on her floor for a bit and observe what she's doing to make the noise.

My dd1 bangs her legs on the bed when she is OT and refusing to sleep - makes a heck of a racket! Could she be doing that?
-
My DS also bangs his legs hard on the mattress. We know this cos we have a video monitor. It echoes throughout the house. If it turns out it is banging legs/arms etc it's best not to draw attention to it- yes easier said than done I know!

ds kicks the wall when he is overtired and flip flopping - it is a bit deliberate and attention seeking but also directly related to OT. we tell him once to stop kicking the wall because it is not a nice sound and it might hurt the wall, then the next time he does it his lovie has a short time out. usually doesn't go beyond that. if she is uncomfortable from cold then i would do my best to make her comfortable but tell her you will not come back if she keeps making the thudding noise just so you do'nt start a bad habit.
huge hugs - sounds like a rough week.
