Title: Finger Food Question
Post by: mickey44 on June 04, 2010, 17:52:00 pm
Hi there, my lo is 8.5 months and just started finger foods about two weeks ago, she is taking to them really well.  Before finger foods we were giving her 3Tbs of purees at meal time, my question is do we still give her the 3Tbs plus the finger foods or just do the finger foods?  She doesn't seem to eat as much of the finger foods as the purees (except cheerios, I think she would eat those all day long)!

When we were starting out I gave the purees as well, but decreased the amount slowly until he could eat more of the FF.  Now that DS is eating FF well, I give him approximately the same amount of FF as I did of the puree.  So if I was giving him 2tbsp of pureed peaches for breakfast, then I was subsituting 2tbsp of peaches for FF.  I still give him tons of the iron fortified cereal, and usually one meal of mashed something to keep up a variety of foods (with just a little bit of FF for fun).
I hear you about the Cheerios.  I give those as a "treat" because he would eat them for an entire meal if I let him!
