Title: Here we go...another baby with NW!!! I'm EXHAUSTED!!!
Post by: Violets Mum on July 26, 2010, 14:35:14 pm
I've got an ongoing post under Cat Naps but now feel I'm dealing with NW!!! If it's not one thing...
Here's a copy/paste of yesterday's EASY:
Awake at 6:30
Bottle - 7 (6 oz)
Breakfast - 7:45-8 (plums/cereal)
Nap 8:15-9 (fuzzy b/c i was asleep:)
Bottle at 10:30 (6 oz)
Lunch at 12 (zucchini/sweet potato)
Nap at 12:30 - 2:30
Bottle at 2:50 (6oz)
Dinner at 4 (carrots)
Nap at 5:05 - 5:45
Bath at 6:30 (was going for later but she got whiny and showed signs of being tired)
Bottle at 7
Crib at 7:15 (settled herself to sleep but kept waking until she cried and I soothed her a little and she went to sleep at about 8)

I did  a DF in her crib at 11 without waking her (a suggestion from another member) and she woke at 3ish and stayed up until 5. The previous few nights it was more like 1ish to 3ish).
It seems like we've got a  whole new set of problems now that I've managed to extend her naps during the day with HTTJ. Before, she woke during the night but went back to sleep easier, from what I recall, and didn't stay up for 2 hours at a time.
Last night she cried almost right away and I tried to hold her legs and help soothe her but it didn't work for the first hour or so. She was hyper and wanted to play.
Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, after going back to sleep at 5, she woke at about 6:30 and I took her out of the crib at 7. We have had problems with EW as well. So far today, our routine is going really well but night time is where we now seem to have a problem!

hi there hun -

In terms of your routine, it's looking like your first A is quite short for a LO this age.  Most around 6 months are up to 2.75-3 hrs awake time so she just may need more A time to get a longer first nap.

I am almost inclined to think that she is in fact ready to drop the catnap and consolidate her day sleep into 2 long naps since she is waking at night wanting to play.  Often that is an indicator that they are getting too much day sleep and/or need a bump in A times.  I would suggest starting with getting her up to 3 hrs A time - starting in 15 min increments every other day or so - and see if that solves the problem.  Once you are up to 3 hrs and getting 2 long naps, that catnap will be no more :) (and hopefully those NWs too!)
