Hi all,
My 9 weeks old sun is still waking up during the night, around 4 am. My wife's maternity leave will end in 2 weeks so we were hoping he will be able to make a stretch till at least 5.30 am soon. What is the best approach?
He is a big baby (born 4.5 kg, currently 6.2 kg) and we are already able to keep him on 4 hour routine (bottle feed). So he feeds around 200 ml at 6am, 10am, 2 pm, 6pm and 10.30 pm DF. Naps of average 1 hour at 8am, noon, 4 pm. He gets his bath at 7 pm and goes to bed afterwards.
With my daughther we had succes in giving just a small bottle when she woke up during the night at 4 am (70-80 ml water with less formula). Soon she was able to sleep through till 6 am when she was ± 8 weeks old.
But with my son it does not seem to help. He is restless after his 4 am small bottle and does not fall asleep easily. I am wondering if we should give a normal 200 ml bottle, but my wife thinks he will get used to night feedings which makes it more difficult for him to stretch till 6 am soon. We tried to provide bigger bottles at 7pm and DF but it seems 200 ml is maximum indeed. Also he is taking 1000 ml milk a day, which should be correct according to his weight.
How to proceed?
