Title: Tweaking a nightime issue?
Post by: Hester on September 25, 2010, 15:51:59 pm
hey all, N is 6 weeks old and is doing amazing. He naps well and does a 6 hour stretch every night. So I feel I might be a complainer a bit, but if I could tweak this last little thing I'd be sooo happy.
After his 6 hour stretch at night he feeds one side (BF) then refuses the other side and is wide awake, he can be awake for up to two and a half hours, chatting, grunting, moving etc. Then after those two hours he seems hungry for the other side. I can't distract him with a soother, but that kind of makes sense since he's almost on the 3 hour mark again.
Then he will grunt and moan and whine till finally he falls asleep but with a lot of encouraging from me. Sometimes he'll only fall asleep in my arms in my bed, since I need my sleep by then.

Any ideas how to get him to go to sleep right away at that time? He doesn't do this amount of awake time during the day. He is on the standard 3 hour EASY on the clock (textbook baby?) Does he need more awake time during the day? I don't want to risk OT

Hi there, hmmm not sure.  Could you post the routine.

Do you think he's just gassy or uncomfortable after that feed?

Sorry for responding so late, life with three boys os BUSY!
I think I've figured it out though, I let him sleep too long on the CN between 5 and 6. It's rush hour here then with dinner and all and I forget to get him up. He will easily sleep another 1.5 hours then, if not more.

Then he goes to bed around 8.30, gets a DF around 10/11 and then sleeps his 6 hour stretch till 4/5 ish. And then he's just awake, he has done his night.
So I have limited that nap to 30-45 minutes and he is much better now.

Thanks for replying, I guess I should have just waited this one out, he is so young still :)
