Title: NW - substituting nursing to resettling with a dummy?
Post by: kirey on September 30, 2010, 21:24:33 pm
I have been nursing my 7 month old to sleep for ever and as of last night decided enough was enough. So i tried offering him a bottle to determine if it really is hunger or using me as a prop to
resettle thhats causing his night wakings.
He didnt take any feed at all overnight after offering a bottle.  I then gave him a dummy to at least wean him off me.  He settled well using the dummy. He's never used a dummy before. Tried many times but gave up untill trying again last night.
Am i doing the wrong thing??
Hes been waking up forty mins after bed every night and lately every 2 hrs after that all night.

Thanks.

It's totally a personal decision. BUT, I would caution you that if he does take to the paci it will eventually become a prop too. The upside is that he's old enough to be able to replace it himself now.
