Title: Is it time to change the teat size?
Post by: scucci1979 on October 07, 2010, 18:29:11 pm
Alyssa is 7 weeks old and has is on prevacid for reflux.  Lately, she has been taking a good 40min to finish her 5oz bottle.  She will squirm, toss and turn and eventually fall asleep. Is this a sign to move to a faster teat?

It could be, you can always give it a try and see how she does with it. The age guides on the packets are only rough guides, some babies stay on slow flow, some need faster earlier.

If you think it's the flow of the teat try the next size and see. She may need to have a few feeds with the new teat to let her get used to it before you decide if it's suiting her or not.

Let us know what you do and if it helps!

Definitely worth trying. Bear in mind it can take a few days for them
to get used to it. I tried and DS was still spilling a lot as it was too fast so I left it a week
or so and then the next time I tried he was fine!

Will try! It has been taking her 40min to finish a feed.
I will keep you posted.
