Hi there,
Thirty days after starting PD sleep training with my DS we're doing great! He usually STTN 11 hours and just last week has started amusing himself for a further 30 to 45 minutes upon waking in the morning, WOW! So why am I posting? When he does wake in the night I am concerned about sometimes staying too long and becoming a prop. He knows all the best tricks and has even stepped up the drama in his Mantra cry recently (took me a while to realise) I have been standing at the door instead of sittng in the chair, making my exit easier and quieter but I think it would be good to try WI/WO, Obviously we don't have a big problem at the moment but I want to be prepared for all scenarios. I can't find anything about it in my books.
Many Thanks
Vicki.x.

How old is your DS??

He'll be 1 on January 22nd.x.

I can't post the link as I'm typing on my iPhone - but all the info is in the toddler sleep FAQs. As it is a technique for LOs over 1 year.
It has always been my preferred method with DS as he is so spirited, but the gradual withdrawal you are doing will likely work anyway (and may suit your LOs personality better).
Let me know if you can't find it and I will post the link when I am on the 'puter.

Hi there, this is the link Liz refers to:

As she mentioned we don't normally recommend any WI/WO for those LO under 1.
And not usually when teething or in discomfort, most tend to stick to a GW method or even AP under those circumstances. You know your LO best so you find what works for them :-)

Thank you Wendy, I am sticking to GW, unless DS is performing his best dramatic cry and throwing blankie and dummy, then I've found that WI/WO, to give him it back works better because he's happy as Larry when I go back in and is just working me like a puppet LOL, so staying just means I'm joining in his game. Of course if I detect any genuine distress I always stay, like you say it's just knowing you LO well, but it isn't always easy to trust your instincts is it? you have to take a leap of faith sometimes and just hope for the best. Happy New Year to you.
