During the past several days, my 2mo and 2 week daughter always woke up after 30 min sleep after we put her down in her crib. She has no problem falling asleep, but after she woke up after 30 min, she resisted to go back to sleep until the next feeding time around 9. During the past several weeks, waking up after 30 min did occur, but we've managed to let her to go back to deep sleep again (giving her paci, etc). But 4 days in a row, she refused to go back to sleep. My husband and I were doing a lot of shuhing and padding, and she could calm down and started to go back to sleep for about 10 min, but woke up and cried again.
I read a lot of posts here, and thought she might be overtired. So today I tried to let her take a good nap. Here is her EASY today:
E: 8:20
A:8:45
S:9:50 (this nap was okay, she woke up after 40 min but went back to sleep for another 15 min)
E:11:20
A:11: 40
S: 12:40 ( this nape was good)
E:3:20
A:3:40
S:4:30 ( this nape took place in the swing, and I have to wake her up after 1 hour)
A:5:40
E:6:30
S:7:00
Do you think she just dosen't like an eary bedtime. I read that young infant should go to bed between 6-8 pm, and she did well for a while. Her behavior during the past few days make me wonder should I put her schedule back to 9 pm?

Hi. My 4 month old has an internal clock of 8:20. (he wakes at this time almost every day.) If you go by the 12hr schedule suggested by BW, that means that your LO should be going to bed between 8:30-9. To me it looks like she is just an 8:30-8:30 baby and not a 7-7. Mine is too...It is kind of nice, well, when DS1 doesn't get up early that is. I hope this helps :)
-
Thanks! But she can easily fall asleep around 6:30-7pm, and just couldn't stay asleep. Shall I just let her take a nap during that period of time if she starts a late schedule?
-
ya that would be her cn. If you look at Tracy's easy which is 7-7:30, yours would just move back one hr, so a cn between 6-7 is normal.
-
thanks! would love to take a look at Tray's easy. Would u please give a link? I'm a newbie here, and have been overwhelmed by all the infor...

I have no clue how to do that either :)
Go to the easy board. I am sure it is in the FAQ, or someone would be able to direct you if you post there. Sorry, I am new too...just know how to post :)

Thanks for the direction though!

Aparently,30 min waking up is not about the early bedtime for my DD. I have been trying to have a 8-8 schedule for her, but she still woke up 30 min after falling asleep. We used to calm her down within 30min, but during the past2days, she was fuzzy for2 hours. Until 10:00pm, I fed her and she went to sleep till 10 next morning, with a small feed around 4:am. She must be exhausted. From what I've seen online, it is very common for baby around 3 mos to have 30 waking up. They just couldn't go back to sleep after 30-min sleep cycle. Any advice from you folks? I'm also curious when a baby like my DD who sleep well since birth suddently dosen't know how to settle herself?

DD2 is currently going through this for the same time frame. I too was told that it could be OT and to try and create a regular wake time, but it appears you already have done that so I don't have any advice. I will be interested in what the other ladies have to say, but I also went through it with DD1 and it passed around the 3 month mark all on its own. I figured she got used to the routine but who knows ::)

I have no clue. My bedtime is a mess right now, including the 30 mins wake time, but all the time??
-
yes, every night :-\ or at least 90% of the time but it didn't last too long

My DD used to have 7/8-7/8. Since my DD 30 min waking up, her schedule changes to 10-10.
This morning, she woke up around 9 because of stuffed nose. Here is today's EASY:
E: 9 am
A: 9:15-10:10
S: 10:10-2 (fell asleep on her own in the crib)
E: 2:00
A:2:00-3:10
S: 3:20-5:10 (fell asleep on her own in the crib)
E: 5:10
A: 5:10-6:10
S: 6:30-7:30 (on the swing)
We started the bedtime routine around 8:15pm, bathing, messaging and feeding. She fell asleep around 9:00 pm, and woke up 9:30 pm!!! The next two hours was painful. When I held her, she seemed tired. After putting her back to the crib, she woke up again after several minutes. Two-hour fuzziness has been happening during the past 2 weeks, due to the 30 min waking up.
Is it due to the OT or UT? Or it is just her age (she will be 3 month next week)? She slept well after 1-2 hour late night fussiness. She can sleep from 10-10, only waking up around 5/6 am.

Her first nap usually takes about 1.5 hrs to 3 hrs, which might be due to the late bedtime these days.

I'm going through the same thing with DD.
I'm thinking about using w2s with her. She's always waking up at 45min after bedtime, the same as she does with her naps. The one day I intereferred after 30 min she didn't wake up... It's just that I've been busy after putting her to bed so I end up missing the time marks.
I found out that whenever I intereferred and she didn't have a "broken" bedtime she woke up happy and cooing next day at 7:30. Whenever she wakes up 45min into bedtime she doesn't wake up until maybe 9am.
I might invest on doing w2s with her after bedtime more often to see if we can fix this. It's being really hard not having peace in the evenings...

Her last A time ranges from 1.5 hrs to 2 hrs, which include small feeding-play-bath-last feeding. I just realized the last A time might be too long. Do you think that's the reason for 30 min waking up? My DD has been a great day napper now, falling asleep on her own and naps lasting for 1hr-2hrs. I always put her down 1hr-1hr 10 min after she woke up.
-
Hi Jane, tonight I limited the A time before BT to 1 hour. DD still woke up after 30 min and we have been patting her for half an hour and eventually we put her in the swing, but still couldn't calm her down..
I'm very frustrated. DD has been a good day napper now. Why dose it only happen during the night sleep? I'm so worried about if she can get enough good sleep.
-
have u tried w2s?
you go there in her room before she wakes up at 30min after BT and prevent her from waking fully. It might not work the first time, but insist on it for a few days.
I used to have a hard time too when DD woke up fully after BT, but w2s worked for us here.
I think it's worth a try since all the rest you tried didn't work!

Thanks for all the tips! I'll try W2S, and will report back later.
